TIDEWATER KENNEL CLUB OF VIRGINIA INC.
STANDING RULES
1. The Club colors shall be blue and gray. 2. The property chairman shall maintain an inventory of the club property. He shall obtain the receipts for all club property issued on loan to anyone, noting the condition of the property at the time of loan and at the time of return to his custody. He shall loan club property only to club members for club purposes and to other activities only with the approval of the Board of Directors. 3. No raffle shall be held in the name of the club unless it is approved by a 2/3 vote of the members present at a regular meeting. 4. There will be an annual awards dinner, which will be subsidized from the general treasury if funds are available, as determined by the Board of Directors. In order for members to attend without charge, the member must be a member in good standing during the current year and must have attended at least three meetings during the year or must have actively served on a committee during the preceding year. Otherwise, the member will be assessed the same amount as anon-members by the Awards Dinner Chairman and approved by the Board of Directors. An award will be given at the annual awards dinner to all members whose dogs received AKC Championship and/or Performance Titles in the preceding calendar year. The award will contain suitable engraving, identifying it as having been awarded by Tidewater Kennel Club. To qualify for an award the person must be:
Awards will be given at the Annual Awards Dinner to all members who bred, owned or co-owned a Best In Show or High In Trial winner at an all breed show or a Best of Breed or Variety or High In Trial at a National Specialty in the preceding calendar year. The Plaque will contain suitable engraving, identifying it as having been awarded by the Tidewater Kennel Club. In the event that a dog should win an additional BIS or HIT during that same year, a plate will be added to the award noting that achievement. To qualify for a plaque the member must be:
5.There shall be a Good and Welfare Committee whose duties shall include sending cards or notes in the name of the club for sympathetic or congratulatory purposes. The Chairman shall send a suitable token, not to exceed $50.00 in cost to any member hospitalized for treatment. No member will be sent any token more than once in each twelve (12) months. However, a suitable card will be sent to members each time they are hospitalized. The chairman shall also send a token, not to exceed $50.00 to deceased members, to deceased husband or wife or children under 21 years of members in good standing. 6. The official publication of the club shall be called " Paws "N" Patter. All issues will be mailed first class mail. 7 .Show committees must include the Board of Directors and shall be governed by the authorized policies of the club. Said Show Committees may be advanced such sums as may be needed to enable them to plan effectively for their shows. Nine (9) members, six of which must be board members, shall constitute a quorum at Show Committee meetings. 8. Show catalogs shall contain a memory page including names of all deceased members not previously included. 9. All show must be closed-out within (90) days after the show date. Outstanding accounts will not be cause for delaying the final closing statement. Excess money in the show account will be returned to the club treasurer as soon as possible after the show. A financial statement as approved by the Show Chairman and audited by the Audit Committee, shall be distributed to the members at the regular membership meeting after the completion of the closing statement. 10. A donation of $300.00 maximum shall be made available to the Trophy Fund of each Show Committee from the regular club treasury. These funds are to be used if the Trophy Committee deems it necessary in order to cover Groups and Best in Show not already covered by donations from members, friends and business associates. However, the Trophy Committee shall endeavor to solicit sufficient pledges to cover classes without applying the $300.00 to the cost of trophies. 11.A donation of $150.00 maximum shall be available to the Trophy Fund at each Obedience Trial Committee from the regular club treasury. These funds are to be used if the Trophy Committee deems it necessary to cover High Scoring in Trial and High Scoring in each obedience classification not already covered by donations from members, friends and business associates. However, the Trophy Committee shall endeavor to solicit sufficient pledges to cover classes without applying the $150.00 to the cost of trophies. 12. Upon request the Club shall donate $25.00 to the trophy fund of each local Specialty Club and local Obedience Clubs to be used for a trophy. For specialty clubs, this trophy will be designated for the Best Puppy unless the Club has this award covered and in this case, the Club may designate the trophy to be used where it is most needed. The trophy for the local Obedience Training Clubs shall designate to the "Highest Scoring Novice Dog". 13. At the end of each meeting a drawing shall be held for a $4.00 door prize. Members must be present to win. This shall be an accumulative fund until won. 14. The Corresponding Secretary shall send a letter of thanks to all guest speakers within seven (7) days of their appearance. If deemed appropriate by the Program Chairman and the Board of Directors, a gift, not to exceed $15.00 in total cost, will also be presented or sent to the guest speaker. The TKC medallion shall appear or be affixed to any and all gifts that are deemed appropriate. 15. Each year an up-to-date membership list, current Constitution and By-Laws, and Standing Rules will be prepared in book form and made available to the members prior to the May meeting. This book will be available at the regular club meeting and will only be mailed on request made to the Recording Secretary. When the book is available notice will appear in Paws n Patter. 16. While affiliated with any circuit, the Show Chairman for the Show falling under the jurisdiction at that circuit shall automatically be considered a circuit delegate. 17. All delegates and/or representatives of this club due reimbursement from, the club must present itemized bills to the treasurer before reimbursement can be made. 18. Annual donations shall be made to a SPCA and/or other recognized charitable organizations as recommended by the board of Directors. Requests should be received by October and will be approved by the Board prior to the November general meeting. The full membership will vote in November, with checks issued in December. 19. Official club stationary shall be used only for correspondence as approved and directed by the club, the Board of Directors, or a recognized and approved committee of the club. No correspondence shall be sent by an individual member of the club that implies either by signature or stationary that the views contained therein carry the sanction and approval of the club, the Board of Directors, or a committee of the club unless said correspondence is written with full knowledge and approval of the club, the Board of Directors. 20. Membership dues shall be $10.00 per year for Active Members, $3.00 per year for Junior Members, payable on or before the first day of January of each year. 21. Standing Rules may be amended or changed by any proposal being submitted in writing and read at a regular meeting and notice of the proposed amendment subsequently being mailed to all members by the Corresponding Secretary and acted upon at the next regular meeting. A ¾ vote of the members present and voting is necessary for its adoption. The proposed Standing Rule may be amended by ¾ vote of the members present and voting. All previous Standing Rules are hereby repealed. |
